SONGYAN WATER DRESS

"Water" is the reflection of our soul.

As the most abundant substance on our planet, water embodies fluidity, resilience, and mystery. Water Dress, a collaborative series by Lee Kuei-Chih and Lua Rivera since 2019, draws inspiration from Dr. Masaru Emoto’s research on the relationship between human consciousness and water crystals. Each work is conceived as a “dress” woven for water—natural textiles floating across its surface, garments tailored for the most vital and enigmatic element of life.

At Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, water carries profound meaning. Once central to the site’s industrial past, it now supports ecological renewal and cultural transformation. The park’s landscape pools, essential for biodiversity and balance, provide habitats for migratory birds whose movements disperse seeds and foster thriving plant communities. In this way, water remains both a vessel of history and a source of life.

The Songyan Water Dress responds to this unique environment. Its design echoes the park’s iconic mountain-shaped rooftops, while its patterns draw from the delicate structures of bird feathers, plant cells, and leaves. Together, these motifs unfold into a constellation of blooming flowers that float upon the pond. In harmony with the plants and wildlife of the ecological pool, the installation fuses natural aesthetics with artistic vision—an homage to water’s elegance, fragility, and enduring role in shaping both culture and ecology.
