LIGHT GLARE
Located in the mountainous region of Taitung, Taiwan, this sculptural installation responds directly to the area’s volcanic geology and mineral-rich hot springs. Suspended among palm trees above the natural pools, the work weaves metal and translucent fabric into a luminous form reminiscent of jade. During the day, it shimmers subtly in sunlight; at night, it emits a soft internal glow, suggesting a stone animated from within.
The sculpture’s color palette—green, teal, and ochre—is derived from mineral traces deposited on surrounding rocks where thermal waters surface. Formed through intense volcanic activity, this landscape contains one of Taiwan’s largest concentrations of green jade, grounding the work materially and conceptually in its site. The installation invites viewers into a quiet, dreamlike encounter, attuning them to the geological rhythms that shape the terrain over deep time.
All the fabric is repurposed material donated by Yee Chain International Co.
This installation and its construction methods are original artistic expressions developed by Lua Rivera as part of the Rivera Rhizomatic Construction Method.
