FLOWING WATERS
Flowing Waters is a textile installation inspired by the Nankan River, a watercourse whose accessibility is restricted, separating people from its flow. Historically, rivers were curved and dynamic, but human intervention has straightened and flattened them, taming their natural forms.
This work invites viewers to reflect on the original, flowing shapes of water—ever-changing, shaping stones into sand, and reminding us of the impermanence of human constructs. Audiences are encouraged to sit or lie on the piece, experiencing the tactile rhythm of movement and the river’s adaptability. It questions whether rivers shape our cities—or our cities shape the rivers.
All the fabric is repurposed material donated by Yee Chain International Co.
This installation and its construction methods are original artistic expressions developed by Lua Rivera as part of the Rivera Rhizomatic Construction Method.
