PRIMORDIA FUNGI
As we walk through the city's parks, we are immersed in the natural landscapes that embrace us. Nevertheless, there are micro landscapes that we pass by unnoticed as we do it. Mushrooms have a fascinating life cycle, which begins with spores that develop into mycelium, a network of thread-like structures that grow underground. Mycelium forms tiny mushroom primordia or barely visible baby mushrooms as it matures. These primordia are the precursors to the fully-formed mushrooms that we are familiar with, and they represent an exciting stage in the mushroom's growth because they will change their shape and color once they mature.
With my installation, I choose to make visible what might be taken for granted, maximizing the size and shapes of the primordia mushroom in my installation to make humans feel out of proportion as they pass by them. I want to make visitors curious and encourage them to explore the micro natural worlds that surround us.
