WAVE

This sculpture is a portrait of the movement of waves, capturing their transformation from ripples to crashing breakers. Wind generates ripples on water, which grow into waves as energy accumulates, their forms shaped by water depth and distance traveled. Approaching the shore, waves pitch forward, curl, and break, producing the familiar rhythms of the sea.

Made from metal and woven fabric, the installation evokes the translucent quality of water and its dynamic motion. Audiences are invited to sit on the sculpture, observing and experiencing the stages of the wave’s flow—from swelling and curling to crashing and sliding—reflecting on the constant transformation and energy of nature.

All the fabric is repurposed material donated by Yee Chain International Co.

This installation and its construction methods are original artistic expressions developed by Lua Rivera as part of the Rivera Rhizomatic Construction Method.
