Baya Weaver Bird Nest

2019

Recycled fabric, cotton rope, yarn, and grass. 80cm(L) x 60m(W) x 180m(H)

This exhibition includes six mixed media sculptures inspired by human, insect and bird shelters. The sculptures combine materials like textiles from Omachi, grass rope, grass, branches and cotton yarns woven without a pattern. The idea of weaving a house, cocoon or shelter using materials collected from the surroundings reminds us that even animals, insects and humans need a place to seek protection from the environment. These are shelters built by the body and for the body.
